Intervening the exhibition Voices from the Hinterlands by Cian Dayrit, visitors to Casa Quiapo will find a selection of works by woodcarving artists Rơmah Aleo, Rchâm Jêh and Puih Hăn of the Jrai Dew project by Art Labor, who all took part of the artist residency program at Bellas Artes Projects in November, 2018. The sculptures often made by the Jrai are made out of tree trunks that were collected from discarded firewood or scavenged from their forestland. Totem poles and animal figurines reflect the Jrai people’s contemporary perspective of ritual, desire and observation of their daily lives.
